Street Law
Street Law is a national program designed to teach practical, participatory law to teenagers. The curriculum we use includes a number of standalone lessons in family law, consumer law, housing law, employment law, and criminal law. The program is designed to given middle and high school students the tools they need to become self-sufficient adults upon graduation from high school.
The Family Resource Center's legal staff is currently teaching a set of family law classes to the STEPP students at Sierra High School. We will also teach criminal law and individual rights to the government class next semester.
With further funding, we hope to expand the program to more Truckee and North Lake Tahoe students.
